You do not have to guess the van

Choosing a vehicle is the part of van hire that most people get wrong, in both directions. PORTR calculates the volume of your items, adds headroom so the load can be strapped safely, and picks the vehicle for you. You can still override it if you know something we do not.

Paying for your booking

Half now by card. Half on completion.

You pay a 50% deposit securely online when you book, which confirms your vehicle and your time window. The remaining 50% is settled by bank transfer once your items are delivered, using the details on your invoice.

You can also authorise us to charge the balance automatically to the card you used, or pay the full amount online at booking and take a small discount. Cash is accepted on request if you would prefer it.

We quote journeys across mainland Great Britain, including long-distance routes between cities. If we cannot cover your route on your chosen date, the quote flow will tell you rather than taking a booking we cannot fulfil.

Why flexible costs less

An empty van still burns the same fuel

Most vans on a motorway are running back empty. That wasted return leg is the hidden cost in every traditional removals quote, and it is the reason a single sofa can be quoted at the price of a full day's work.

When you choose a flexible date, PORTR can place your item on a route a driver is already running. You pay less because the journey is shared, and the mile is cheaper because it was going to be driven either way. Choose same-day instead and you are paying for a dedicated vehicle, which is why the price is higher — the quote makes that trade-off explicit rather than burying it.
