We are not a full house-removals company
PORTR moves items between two addresses. We do not survey your property, pack your possessions into boxes, or provide the high-value contents insurance a whole-home move needs.
If you are moving an entire furnished house, use a removals firm. If you are moving the contents of a room, a few large items, or a flat's worth of belongings you have packed yourself, PORTR fits well.
We do not assemble, dismantle or install
Our drivers are transport professionals, not fitters or engineers. We do not build flat-pack furniture, take beds apart, plumb in washing machines or wall-mount televisions.
Please have items ready to load. If something must come apart to clear a doorway, do that before collection or tell us in the notes so the driver can plan the route through the property.
We do not handle certain goods
We do not carry hazardous or flammable materials, illegal items, live animals, cash, jewellery or documents of high intrinsic value. Perishable food is not suitable for a shared journey.
Pianos, safes, hot tubs and similar items are possible but never automatic. Describe them when booking and we will confirm handling before accepting the job, because sending the wrong vehicle wastes your day and ours.
We do not pay sellers or inspect goods on your behalf
On a marketplace collection, your driver collects what is presented to them. They cannot pay the seller, negotiate, or judge whether an item matches its listing.
Settle with the seller yourself and satisfy yourself about condition before the collection, or arrange to be present.
We are not always the cheapest
If price is your only consideration and you have time, a hired van and a helper will usually cost less in cash. We are upfront about that.
What we sell is a fixed itemised price, a date you choose, and the right vehicle and crew for the item without a phone call. If that is worth more to you than the difference, book with us.
